Attawapiskat Chief Ignace Gull said he was optimistic about the future of the community after the federal government promised to improve the failed water supply system for remote First Nations.
Indigenous services minister Simo o'regen, one of several government delegates, visited the community on Sunday

"They can't take a shower, they can't take a shower inside, they can't wash food, vegetables or anything they have to do every day at home.
"People really don't have a very good mood or a safe mood to continue using water when drinking unsafe water.
"But o'regen's commitment makes the chief feel hopeful.
"I'm very optimistic and I think that's something we need to follow up on," seagull said . ".
"I know there's still a lot of work to be done, but I think it's OK.
"I am very optimistic about this, and I am very pleased that the minister brought his senior officials and [the] to our towns and communities

Seagull said he expects the teams to arrive next week.

"The sewage system should be repaired and the local system should be repaired.
This is what the federal government knows.
"They have been here several times and they know what they need.
They know what it takes to get the community back where it should be.
